Free Vintage Graphics 08052014: 1890 Hydrangea Hortensia (French or Mophead Hydrangea)
Two colour versions of Hydrangea hortensia. This French or mophead hydrangea is one of the most widely recognized flowers in the world; they can be seen in many formal and informal gardens from Europe to Asia. It is believed that the name hortensia was first used by Philibert Commerson, a botanist and plant collector who found some hydrangeas in China circa 1767 which he transported to France.
These vintage graphics would make a lovely floral ornament for a design or “crafty” project. You can see an example of how I used the green flower in a greeting card below.
You are welcome to download the free 2" x 2" @ 300 ppi high-res JPEG of the green hydrangea here and the 2" x 2" @ 300 ppi high-res JPEG of the purple-green hydrangea here. Okay for personal or commercial use but NOT for resale or redistribution “as-is.” Please respect my Terms and credit with a link back to this site.
